Volunteer
Volunteering at Temi
We welcome volunteers from all over the world, to do a wide range of work. They are included into the Temi family, and fulfill an important and
appreciated role. We want volunteers to get the most out of their time here, while contributing to the life of the community. As such we work with
volunteers to define their roles as best suits them, and give them meaningful responsibility. Volunteers are a crucial and valued part of life
at Temi.
We ask volunteers to do some fund-raising for the community before they arrive. For the first two weeks of stay in the community, the charge is 150€ per week, from the third week onwards, the charge reduces to 100€ for every week's stay in TEMI. Cost of transport one way from Tbilisi airport to TEMI is €50. This ensures that volunteers do not become a financial burden on a struggling community – there are already many mouths to feed!
If you are having trouble raising the money or come from a community unable to support your trip financially, please get in touch with us and we will see what we can suggest.
If you are coming by WWOOF, TEMI can only make their stay free when they save significant costs to the community through their work on heavy construction or major agricultural projects.
Works for volunteers
Naturally enough, we encourage able-bodied volunteers to participate in the heavier physical work. We don’t insist on this, but are most appreciative if you choose it. The normal working hours are six hours a day for 6 days a week. Day off – Sunday.
If you are doing a heavy job for a few hours, you can combine it with lighter jobs (light agricultural work, such as planting / weeding / watering; teaching, helping with household chores, organized leisure activities etc). You may also change the combination of tasks during the period of your stay. The great majority of volunteers do not find the work onerous, but accept that it is a natural way to integrate effectively with the community.
